My name is Emma Holland and I am a qualified Summer Mountain Leader. I founded Emma Holland Mountain Training because I want to inspire and support you on a journey or adventure of your own.
I have been hill walking and enjoying the mountain areas of the UK for all of my life and I want to share that passion and enthusiasm with you. The hills and mountains of the UK are so accessible, yet without the correct knowledge, skills and experience they can be intimidating and potentially dangerous places for any walker of any level.
Coaching Your Confidence
I offer training sessions and deliver courses in a relaxed, friendly, inclusive and supportive environment. Getting to know my course participants is very important to me so I like to work with small groups of up to 6 people, or with individuals. I want all of my courses and training sessions to feel personalised to your needs, which is why I offer bespoke sessions.
Whether you are new to walking, want to learn or try something new, or you are working towards one of the mountain training walking qualifications, all of my training can be adapted or modified to suit your needs.
Most of all, I want you to enjoy your time with me and to feel inspired and confident to continue your own journey outdoors, wherever that may take you.
I have recently been selected for the new Mountain Training Association Mentor Programme, of which I am extremely proud. This brand new programme runs for one year from June 2018-June 2019. I have already been matched with my mentee and I'm excited about being able to help her on her own Mountain Leader journey.
I have 15 years experience of working in the NHS supporting adults with mental health difficulties. I'm passionate about promoting the link between spending time outdoors and improved mental health. I believe that exercise and fresh air builds confidence, promotes recovery, increases self esteem and improves physical fitness. I hold the Mental Health First Aid Certificate (MHFA) I also hold the City & Guilds Train the Trainer Certificate and I deliver Equality & Diversity training.
I belong to the Mountain Training Association (MTA), the British Mountaineering Council (BMC). I am a registered Director and Course Provider for the Bronze and Silver NNAS Award Scheme and I hold the National Navigation Scheme Tutor Award (NNAS). I also have a valid and current Outdoor First Aid Certificate, full public liability insurance and an enhanced DBS certificate.
