Emma Holland Mountain Training specialises in navigation training and can organise courses, training, and support for all abilities and levels. I offer one or two-day courses for beginners, intermediate or advanced or if you’d like to take part in an accredited course, there are two-day NNAS (National Navigation Scheme Award) navigation courses available with a certificate on completion. I also offer specialised courses and bespoke days for those pursuing their Summer Mountain Leader or Hill and Moorland Leader award. Other specialised courses include as training with GPS devices, OS Maps, Night Navigation or Contour only courses.
Whether you are seeking an outdoor certification, or are walking the Coast to Coast and need to learn to navigate, my private bookings are designed and built around your needs. You can book courses online or you can contact me directly to organise a bespoke day for a private group to suit your own availability (min 2, max 4 people).
Occasionally, my courses will be delivered by other team members, including Ben Hunt, ML or Becky Jeffrey, ML. I also work with other experienced instructors in the Peak District who I know and trust. If you want to guarantee that Emma Holland, ML is delivering the course, please contact Emma.

This is a great place to start if you want to learn how to use a map and compass to navigate safely outdoors.

This 2-day beginners navigation course is a practical hands-on award aimed at people with limited or no navigation experience.

BRONZE NNAS – 2 DAYS
Identical to the Beginner Navigation 2-day course but with the option of adding the NNAS assessment and Bronze certificate.

INTERMEDIATE – 1 DAY

Love Her Wild Bronze NNAS – 2 days
This is a new course offered in partnership with Love Her Wild, CIC, for women only, delivered and led by women.
The Bronze NNAS Course is a 2-day beginners navigation course and is a practical, hands-on award aimed at people with limited or no navigation experience, with a certificate on completion.
